From the Atlanta Journal-Constitution comes this unfortunate story of a weak heart and a short life. I'm loathe to ridicule the unfortunate circumstances described, but this paragraph simply can't be ignored: Several counselors were called to Bear Creek and classes were told about Xenia's death, Martin said. An honors day program was canceled. A letter also was sent home to parents. They sent a letter home to the parents? What, no phone call? Did they at least over-night it? They certainly couldn't send it home with Xenia. I feel so dirty for finding this funny. I'm certain that in a cosmic sense I've just placed a great big "Kick Me" sign on my back. |
